Choosing surgery is a big decision, and not everyone is suited to it. Here we give you the basics so you can see if surgery could be an option for you.

Is weight loss surgery right for you?
Before considering weight loss surgery with Dr Greenslade, you will need to have a BMI of at least 35. Dr Greenslade will still assess patients with a BMI of less than 35 on a case-by-case basis to determine suitability for surgery but rarely offers surgery to patients with a BMI under 32. Please take advantage of the BMI calculator below.
You will need to have a referral from your GP to see Dr Greenslade for a consultation.If you are over the age of 65, your GP will need send us your referral for Dr Greenslade’s opinion before booking an appointment.
You must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible for weight loss surgery with Dr Greenslade. Patients under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

BMI, or body mass index, is one tool used to see if surgery might be right for you. Most people who qualify have a BMI over 35, especially if other health issues are present.
